Pettersen crowned Queen of Killeen
On a mostly sunny, bright day, World no. 3 Suzann Pettersen followed her course-record 63 by almost equalling that record with a superb 64 to win the Irish Ladies Open, supported by Fáilte Ireland for a second time.
She finished on a fabulous final total of 18 under par to win by six strokes from second placed Azahara Munoz of Spain. After a solid first round of 71, Pettersen went into overdrive in rounds 2 and 3 with rounds of 63 and 64 respectively. Munoz shot a 3 under par 69 which was no match for Pettersen who was blitzing the course with eight birdies. Overnight leader with Pettersen, Dewi-Claire Schreefel of the Netherlands shot a disappointing 77 to finish on five under par overall.
Irish hope Lisa Maguire, who started the day on five under par, had a day to forget as she shot a seven over par 79. However she can still hold her head high after shooting very impressive first and second rounds of 71 and 68 respectively. Her sister Leona shot a solid 72 to finish as leading amateur for the tournament.
